The Association of International Dance Teachers

is an examining body and non-profit association, whose aim is to promote the teaching and standard of Modern, Tap and Hip Hop dancing.

A comprehensive syllabus in all sections enables students from the age of 5 (five) years upwards to learn the correct technique, develop discipline and musicality while enjoying the dancing experience. Careful attention is given to anatomy as used in dance to avoid injury through incorrect use.

Our Aims

The aim of the AIDT is to promote a strong foundation in dance beginning
from the early Pre-grade children through to Advanced levels. The syllabus
is designed to develop a strong technical base while teaching the students
discipline, musicality and performance quality.

The syllabus has been carefully developed from Pre-Grade using creativity
and simple basic techniques. As the grades progress, stronger technique is
employed, as well as a basic knowledge of anatomy pertaining to the work,
while encouraging musicality and presentation.

There are 9 Modern, 8 Tap and 4 Hip Hop grades at present. Advanced dancers
continue on through 3 Modern, 3 Tap and 2 Hip Hop that may lead into a
professional dance career. If the necessary standard has been achieved the
student may participate in a Solo Performers exam. The Association also
offers a Bursary programme, which enables students to further their studies.
Each year the examiner awards two Bursaries to a Modern student and a Tap student who achieves a high level of dance and performance in their exam.

The aim of the Association is to inspire confidence in a student’s ability to achieve and encourage their personal development through dance."
